America’s Historical and Cultural Organizations Planning and Implementation grants

NEH's America’s Historical and Cultural Organizations grants provide support for museums, libraries, historic places, and other organizations that produce public programs in the humanities.
Grants support the following formats:

• exhibitions at museums, libraries, and other venues;
• interpretations of historic places, sites, or regions;
• book/film discussion programs; living history presentations; other face-to-face programs at libraries, community centers, and other public venues; and
• interpretive websites.

America’s Historical and Cultural Organizations awards come in two flavors (below); the deadline is the same: Receipt Deadline January 9, 2013.


Planning grants support the early stages of project development, including consultation with scholars, refinement of humanities themes, preliminary design, and audience evaluation.

Implementation grants support final scholarly research and consultation, design development, production, and installation of a project for presentation to the public.

2013 Muhammad Ali Center Peace Garden Grant

Applications for the 2013 Muhammad Ali Center Peace Garden Grant are due by: January 2, 2013. 50 Award packages are available; award winners receive a gardening package valued over $500 including: $400 in gardening supplies and $100 for soil amendments and plants. 

The Muhammad Ali Center Peace Garden Grant recognizes and supports youth gardening programs focused on peace and hunger awareness in the United States and around the world. Edible gardens in particular provide opportunities for youth to learn how to nurture and care for other living things while also learning how to care for themselves. Students gain first-hand experience through the process of growing food and gaining the skills needed to increase their access to fruits and vegetables. What better way to create awareness about hunger than to have them actively involved in growing a garden, taking food home to their families, and giving to the community.

Through winning programs, students will learn the value of nutrient rich foods for a healthy lifestyle, while gaining an awareness of global hunger and the importance of peace as a member of the global community.

Also remember the Annie’s Homegrown School Gardens grant - $1,500.

Youth Service America, Sodexo $500 grants addressing childhood hunger

$500 Sodexo Foundation Youth Grants are available for youth-led service projects that bring together young people, families, Sodexo employees and other community members to address childhood hunger. 

Online application; deadline: January 31, 2013.  U.S. young people, ages 5-25, are eligible to apply. 

Projects will take place on or around Global Youth Service Day, April 26-28, 2013.
